1) Eyerer & Chopstick - Haunting (Christopher Just Remix) [Session Deluxe]
Trauermusik is simply a great track, put together in a way that seems effortless yet conveys a complexity and deepness that makes it timeless. There seems to be an awakening in the techno scene. A realization that music can be made that plumbs the depth of human emotion yet doesn't stray into the realms of cheesiness. Partial Arts have taken this new asthetic and crafted a gorgeous masterpiece that will undoubtably stand as one of the best tracks of 2007.
It seems Minilogue can do no wrong, what with the incredible Ahck/Girl From Botany Bay powerhouse and on to Seconds/Leopard which grew on me a lot. This remix stands up to The Girl From Botany Bay in terms of quality and the exquisite sense of atmosphere and groove. Yet, Minilogue conjure the same sort of intense imagery as the original. The track consists of two incredible builds surrounded by a bed of beautifully layered click-clack groove. Out of this ocean of rhythm rises a grand monolith, intricate in detail, breathtaking in scope, which then begins to turn, whirling ever faster and faster and up until you've been carried miles above the earth only to realize that you haven't even moved. How many tracks like this to Minilogue have in them? Hopefully their stash hasn't even begun to look empty.
